WWE Shop Leaks ‘I Paid $30 for Backlash and All I Got Was This Lousy Rollup Finish’ T-Shirt

Stamford, CT – In what the company is calling “an unfortunate but deeply profitable error,” WWE Shop accidentally published a yet-to-be-announced T-shirt on its storefront Thursday morning with the bold slogan: “I Paid $30 for Backlash and All I Got Was This Lousy Rollup Finish.”
The shirt – listed under the category “Premium Regretwear” – was briefly available for purchase before being pulled. Screenshots flooded social media within minutes, causing confusion, outrage, and bulk orders from irony-poisoned fans.
“It wasn’t supposed to go live,” said a flustered merch team manager. “It was just a concept. We swear. Like… well, like the entire finish of the last few main events.”
Reddit threads exploded instantly, with users debating whether the shirt was a clever marketing ploy or the most accurate WWE product since the “Push Cesaro” sign that lasted six years.
“They finally released merch that captures the WWE experience,” wrote u/WhyDoINeedPeacock.
“I bought it ironically but it still arrived three days late and the print was crooked—perfect thematic alignment.”
One user claimed to have received their shipping confirmation before WWE had even taken it down, prompting theories that the company is just “leaning into the backlash from Backlash.”
A brief WWE Shop statement blamed “a technical glitch” and promised it would “investigate how such a shirt could’ve been designed, produced, photographed, listed, and promoted by accident.”
Meanwhile, internal sources say the company is now seriously considering releasing a full “Fan Apathy” collection, including:
- “Main Event Energy, Midcard Booking” windbreakers
- “Please Don’t Be a DQ” bucket hats
- “Premium Live Disappointment” joggers
Though the shirt was pulled from the site, third-party resellers are already listing it on eBay for $75, which, coincidentally, is what fans suspect the finish was worth to ESPN’s marketing team.
In a leaked Slack message, one WWE employee reportedly wrote:
“If they’re gonna be mad, they might as well pay us for it.”
Another posted a video wearing the shirt while re-enacting the match using action figures, repeatedly yelling “WHO BOOKED THIS?” into a half-empty bottle of Pepsi.
Reddit user u/PleWhoCries posted, “I was going to complain about the shirt, but then I remembered I also paid $475 for a replica belt that hasn’t been relevant since 2013. Carry on.”
The WWE Shop is reportedly planning several other additions to the Premium Disappointment line, including:
- “I Streamed Crown Jewel and All I Got Was This Diplomatic Immunity” hoodie
- “Kickoff Show? More Like Ripoff Show” drawstring bag
- “Bloodline vs. Logic: 3-Year Feud” commemorative mug
- “Booked to Lose” tear-away pants in three shades of shame
